What Plex unlocks

Plex can be a source for activity, ownership, planning, and metadata at the same time. Floppy keeps those jobs distinct so one connection can support the way your own media setup actually works.
See playback while it happens.
Plex webhooks can update play, pause, resume, stop, scrobble, and rating activity. Current playback can appear on Floppy Home, with history imports available to reconcile anything missed.
Keep your Watchlist useful.
Floppy can mirror Plex movies and shows into Planning every 15 minutes. Entries you have changed in Floppy stay yours instead of being overwritten by the sync.
Let a Plex Music library be more than music.
Choose Auto-detect, Music, or Audiobooks for each library. Chapter activity can become book progress, while regular tracks flow through Floppy’s music history.
Remember what is in the library.
Capture resolution, HDR, audio codec, channels, bitrate, and container details so your Plex collection is useful even when you are not currently watching something.
Share selected activity safely.
Share selected Plex usernames or libraries with another Floppy user without handing over your Plex password, account token, or server credentials.

The first import gives Floppy context. The choices after that determine which parts of Plex stay in sync and how much of your server stack you want represented.

Sync all accessible libraries or select specific servers and sections.
Run history import
Backfill the activity you already have, safely deduplicated on repeat runs.

Add the Floppy endpoint in Plex for near-real-time playback updates.
Review matches
Correct an unresolved item once and reuse that decision later.
One important import setting:
Overwrite mode is powerful, but it can affect TMDB-backed records created by another source when they share the same identity. For most first imports, a normal non-overwrite run is the safer place to start.
Live webhooks
Fast updates, with a repair path.
Webhooks let Plex tell Floppy what is happening without waiting for the next scheduled import. They are intentionally inbound: Plex remains the playback source, and Floppy reflects that activity in its own history and progress surfaces.
Play / resume / pauseUpdate live playback state, including what is playing and how far through it you are.
StopUpdates or clears resume state; stopping alone is not treated as a completed watch.
ScrobbleRecords the completed watch and updates Floppy history.
RateCan sync movie and TV ratings, though Plex rating events are less dependable than library scans.
What setup requires
Plex webhooks require Plex Pass, webhooks enabled in your Plex Server settings, and an endpoint added through app.plex.tv.
- Your Floppy instance needs to be reachable by the Plex server.
- Rotating the Floppy webhook token means updating the URL in Plex.
- The exact endpoint is shown in Floppy’s Integrations settings.
Why imports still matter
A webhook is a great live signal, not a complete archive. Historical imports are the reconciliation layer when a server misses an event, a connection is briefly unavailable, or you connect a library after the fact.
- Repeated imports are normally deduplicated.
- Extras, trailers, and clips are ignored.
- Partial progress does not become a completed watch during history import.
Plex Music libraries
One library type can hold two kinds of listening.
Plex stores audiobooks inside Music libraries often enough that Floppy gives the choice its own control. Automatic detection looks for audiobook-shaped signals, and you can override it when you know your library better.
Music
Track plays through Floppy’s music pipeline, with album and artist relationships, playback history, and collection details. MusicBrainz identifiers are preferred when they are available.
Audiobooks
Route a library to books and Floppy creates one book per audiobook album. Chapter-level activity is combined into progress, with author, summary, genres, runtime, and cover art carried into the book record.
Book tracking must be enabled for audiobook records to be created.
Your collection, not only your history
Know what your library is made of.
Plex gives Floppy a view of the files and formats behind the title. Collection metadata can be refreshed after an import, from the Import page, or on demand from a media detail page when cached Plex data is available.

Codec and channels
See the audio format and channel count alongside the rest of the title’s collection record.
Bitrate and container
Record the underlying media format without turning Floppy into another player or file browser.
Control and recovery

Matching is a normal part of bringing a personal library into a broader media database. Floppy gives you a way to correct the exception without changing Plex itself.
Floppy reads from Plex
Floppy can use Plex identity, library, history, webhook, Watchlist, playback, artwork, and media-format data to build its own records and views.
Floppy does not rewrite Plex
Watched state, ratings, and collection changes are not pushed back into Plex. Watchlist sync flows from Plex into Floppy Planning, not the other direction.
Fix a match once
Matching Review lets you choose the right movie, show, episode, anime, music, or book record. Saved decisions are reused by later imports and webhooks.
Keep sharing narrow
Webhook sharing is filtered by Plex username and library. The recipient must enable the share, and the owner can revoke it without sharing account credentials.
